The Indonesian Carmelite NGO at present time runs two houses for poor elderly people. One is located in Dau, the western part of Malang, while the other is located in Sukun Gempol, the southern part of Malang. The houses take care of the poor elderly people for free. They patients do not need to pay to live there. The requirements to be accepted in those houses are that they are really poor and have nobody who takes care of them.
The House of Mercy dedicated to St. Anne and St. Joachim was inaugurated on August 19, 2017. The house runs well. Now there were 15 elderly people taken care in the house. They live happily as a community. They have programmed activities, including doing sport and praying rosaries. Five members, who were taken from the streets, have passed away in peace. They were accompanied by the sisters until they passed away.
On April 18, 2018, The Indonesian Prior Provincial, Fr. Ignatius Budiono O.Carm. inaugurated the House of Mercy dedicated to Blessed Titus Brandsma. The House of Mercy is dedicated to Blessed Titus Brandsma since Blessed Titus Brandsma played an important role in the Dutch mission to Indonesia. This House of Mercy functions is the second house for poor elderly people run by the Indonesian Carmelite NGO. At present time there are elderly people taken care in the house.
