PROGRAMS ON WOMEN
STUDY HOUSE FOR GIRLS
Perkumpulan Darma Laksana runs a study house for girls in Pontianak. Pontianak is a city in Kalimantan (Borneo) which location is near to the border of Indonesia and Malaysia.This city becomes the source, transit and exit place of human trafficking. Due to poverty, many local girls are easily trapped by traffickers. They are sold abroad as cheap migrant workers, contract housewives, and even sex slaves. The study house provides programs which empower girls so that they may not become victims of human trafficking.
Perkumpulan Darma Laksana holds cooking classes for women from poor families in many different places. In running this program it invites cooking experts from different institutions to train women to make food, cakes and cookies. This program was intended to empower women to support their family’s financial condition by having their own home industry.
Perkumpulan Darma Laksana in cooperation with cosmetic companies and beauty salons holds beauty classes for women from poor families in many different places. It is expected that from this training, they may be able to develop their competence so that they may work individually as beauticians.
